Innovative Education Partnership program starts in Australia

March 28, 2012 │ Sydney

The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) in Sydney is Australia's only museum dedicated exclusively to teaching contemporary art.

Following extensive renovation, the exhibition house celebrates its opening on March 29. And it was well worth the 53-million-dollar investment: the MCA boasts nine spacious rooms, a sculpture terrace, and a series of commissioned works that underscore the building's inimitable character. The National Centre for Creative Learning is at the heart of the MCA’s redevelopment which, for the first time, will have an exclusive space to deliver the Museum’s innovative education programs with a new focus on Australia’s youth.

Deutsche Bank has long been cooperating with the MCA. As the first ever Education Partner, Deutsche Bank is the main sponsor of the new Museum’s Kids' and Youth Program. The program incorporates different learning styles and explores exhibitions, artists’ practice and the art world, both at the Museum and remotely through digital excursions.

Deutschbanker Scott Perkins said: “The reopening of the MCA and its National Centre for Creative Learning is an important milestone for contemporary art in Australia. The new facilities and redesigned education program will make art more accessible for more young Australians than ever before”.

Deutsche Bank’s commitment to the MCA will also see the two organizations collaborate to bring significant works from the Deutsche Bank Collection, one of the world’s largest and most important corporate contemporary art collections, to Australia for the first time.
